CMIC aims to bring an innovative approach to higher education in protracted refugee contexts by combining in-class and experiential learning with online learning and tools. The program will connect refugees with members of their host community and provide participants with skills to design community interventions with the goal of improving community resiliency. Furthermore, the program aims to foster cohesion and further inter-community cooperation by including vulnerable host-community members.

By providing participants with skills to design community interventions that are geared to their specific needs, CMIC will build the political agency of refugees so that they become the primary agents of change within their community. The program will develop the leadership skills of these individuals by providing specialized context-specific training which will equip them with the necessary tools to address the immediate needs of the most vulnerable victims of the crisis.
